Brush fires keep Beaufort authorities busy, devastate Georgia county (w/video)

Dry conditions and high winds led to several brush fires that kept Beaufort County authorities busy Thursday.

The Island Packet has a brief writeup on those local fires. You can read that here.

But what Beaufort County experienced was nothing compared to what occurred in Long County, Georgia, where a fire consumed more than 2,500 acres.

WSAV has the story here and the video below.

Long County is about 100 miles south west of here in Beaufort.

The fire was so large and strong it actually registered on an area doppler radar. This image below courtesy of Twitter user @jaredwsmith.
