Remember the  $250,000 Mega Millions lottery ticket that was sold at the Lady's Island Publix for the March 20 drawing, but no one claimed it?

Well, a Beaufort couple has.

"It's not enough to do something nuts," the winner said.

An occasional lottery player, the Beaufort man — who wants to stay anonymous — heard of the winning ticket sold at the Publix where he and his wife shop. He remembered his ticket and checked the numbers to realize he was the winner. He talked it over with his wife, and the two decided being debt free was the way to go.

The odds of winning $250,000 playing Mega Millions are 1 in 3,904,701.

The Publix in Beaufort received a commission of $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket.

Now, stay tunned for more lottery news ahead of Friday's $500 million jackpot that's up for grabs.
