Five suspects in custody after St. Helena home invasion

Five are in police custody — including one family member of the victims — after a home invasion and subsequent manhunt that started Monday at 4 a.m. on St. Helena Island.

Arrested and charged with 1st degree Burglary, Kidnapping, Assault and Battery High and Aggravated, and Criminal Conspiracy are Eric Wendell Mack, 24, of 20 Peppermint Drive, St. Helena; Veronica Ruby Mack, 25, of 20 Peppermint Dr, St. Helena; Jamin Jamal Anderson, 23, of 5600 Dorchester Gardens Apt 405, Charleston; Robert Lee Lane, 23, of 4208 Barnwell Ave, North Charleston; and Michael Eugene Hawkins, 23, of 3211 N Carolina Ave, Charleston.

It's a twisted tale with Veronica Mack as the stepdaughter of the female victim, and stepsister of the male victim. Eric Mack is Veronica's husband (son-in-law to the female victim, and brother-in-law to the male victim).

Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.

The Island Packet has a report with some details on how the night unfolded and WTOC 11 has a similar vide report.

WTOC also notes that all five suspects will remain behind bars for now.
