Beaufort Black Friday shopping roundup (update: business good, online even better)

Update November 28: The reports are coming as to how good the sales were for the businesses, along with a bit of tea leave reading on the economy.

On Black Friday itself while the number of customers was up some 2.2% over last year, sales themselves improved by a paltry 0.3%. That said, over the Black Friday weekend sales are being projected up 8.7%.

And online retailers are pretty happy, too, with sales on Friday up 16%.

First reporting: The Beaufort Gazette's Patrick Donohue had the unenviable task of covering Black Friday shopping throughout Beaufort this year.

Looks like the shopping scene was about status quo, though it's hard to get a true picture on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. You can read the full story here.
