Tourism rebound solid on Hilton Head too

This week we mentioned how South Carolina had seen a $1 billion rebound in tourism during 2010 — it looks like that trend is continuing closer to home.

South of the Broad on Hilton Head during December 2011 they saw:

- 12,000 more visitors than the prior year;
- 15.5% greater hotel and time share occupancy;
- 5.1% greater hotel occupancy; and
- Room rates up $4.28.

That's according to the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce and Visitor & Convention Bureau.

We're still waiting on updated numbers from the Beaufort Chamber to get a better idea of how the home turf has been fairing.
