I didn't know you could do that at Beaufort libraries (and upcoming events)

I
wish I had a dollar for every time someone said “you can do that in a
library?” The answer is simple: yes, you can!

Libraries are no longer
quiet repositories of information accessible to the few. That was years
ago. Today, they are information supermarkets for every person who walks
through the doors. We even have shopping carts for you to put all of
the items you can check out and take home with you- for free!

Here’s a run down of the services your Beaufort libraries provide:

Materials for Check Out:
Aside from our wide range of books, both fiction and nonfiction, we buy
popular new release movies and TV series on DVD plus we stock
documentaries and “how to” DVDs on a wide range of subjects. We also
purchase audiobooks, magazines, music cds, and graphic novels. As a
bonus, you can use our online catalog to set up your own queue of items you wish to borrow across our entire library consortium.

Downloadable Audiobooks: Want to download an audiobook to your mp3 player? Set up a Netlibrary account on your next visit to the library and you can start downloading right away

Online Services: Access
the resources anytime day or night though online databases with
thousands of articles on a wide range of topics. Some of our most
popular databases are Auto Repair Reference Center, Learning Express, BYKI language learning site, Home Improvement Reference Center, and Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center.

WiFi and Computer Access: Each
of our libraries is equipped for computer usage — either bring your
laptop and connect to our free Wireless connection or use one of our
computers to browse the Web.

Computer Assistance: Our libraries offer computer instruction through formal classes and one-on-one appointments.

Local History Archives:
Obituaries, newspaper clippings, yearbooks, maps, and more materials
from Beaufort’s past are housed in our unique Beaufort District
Collection.

Free Programs:
Join a book club, watch a newly released movie, enroll kids in story
and craft hours, attend a lunchtime lecture, meet an author, or learn
about topics of local interest. Our libraries are always planning
programs to engage library customers. All for free!

One-on-One Assistance:
Need to find a phone number? Can’t remember how to log onto the
Internet? Trying to locate a specific book? Clueless about your research
paper? Our reference librarians are trained to find the answers to your
questions.  You can even ask questions via instant message.
