Island Packet recalls Beaufort's hurricane history, including 1959's Gracie

This time of year brings the hurricane season and with it, a host of special sections in area newspapers and on websites reminding people of the dangers of these storms and how to be prepared.

The Charlotte Observer's Hurricane Section (update: turns out it was taken from The Island Packet) caught our eye this morning because it includes a nice piece on Hurricane Gracie, which struck the area in 1959.

The online piece, which you can check out here, includes some great, yet tragic, photos, including one of a Ford Crown Victoria that was tossed into an oak in front of USCB.
