Give the WTOC piece a read here.

You can check out the page here.

Updated Aug. 3: Here's the meeting coverage we were expecting out of last night's Beaufort County Board of Education meeting.

Apparently about 70 parents showed up to protest the potential school closures.

Read up on it here.

Again, the board isn't expected to vote on the closures until this coming Friday.

Reported Aug. 2:We're expecting a full report out of tonight's Beaufort County Board of Education meeting that there were several protestors their opposing the closure of Port Royal and Shell Point Elementary schools, but an early tidbit we're seeing is news of an effort to open a new charter school in Shell Point.

That comes to us from the SaveBftSchool Twitter account, which mentioned tonight that a parent told the board a movement is under way to open a new charter school.

In fact, Shell Point Charter School already has a website.

Certainly more to come on this one.
