A wet and thundery weekend in store for Beaufort (with radar)

Update July 9: A quick update to let you know that cards still hold true.

While rains and thunder are likely throughout the weekend, watch out today around 2-7 p.m. when rain and thunder chances intensify for an estimated third of an inch of rain.

First reporting, July 8: The clouds are nearly ready to release their wet bounty around the Beaufort area, signaling the beginning of the weekend's weather pattern.

That's right, I hope you got your fill of oppressively hot and sunny beach weather, as it's going to rain and thunder all weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, every hour of the weekend holds a significant chance of rain and thunder.

"Showers and an isolated thunderstorm will continue to stream onshore and push inland this morning," said the service. "Expect periods of heavy rain with rain totals generally between 1/10 to 1/4 of an inch in an hour's time."

A slow-moving front is expected to persist through the weekend and early next week.

As for the highs, they're due to be sticking, topping out at 91 and a feel in the low 100s.

At least it won't be as smoky.
