(Updates at the bottom.)

Did you know, one of the oldest ghosts in America is said to live in "the Castle" on Craven Street in the Old Point?

What's that, you don't know the story of Gauche the dwarf? Well then you'll certainly have to take one of  the Exchange Club of Beaufort's Ghost Tour's that begin tonight, October 14

You can either take a carriage ride or a walking tour through Beaufort's Historic District while listening to haunting tales of the area. The tours will last about an hour and will run in the evenings of October 14-15, 21-23 and 27-30. All proceeds benefit the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA) of Beaufort County.

Reservations strongly suggested, call 843-52-GHOST (843.524.4678).

Costumed storytellers will entertain with "ghostly" happenings while traveling the moss-lined streets of downtown.

Walking tour tickets are $12 for all ages and carriage tours are $10 for children ages 3-11 and $20 for adults. All children must be accompanied by an adult. MasterCard and Visa are accepted.

Update October 17: Weekend one of the ghost tours has passed. But, while you wait for them to resume on Friday, you can catch the vibe of them with a short report at The Island Packet; take a read here.
