Support a Lowcountry town and get some tasty eats at the Yemassee Lowcountry Cook-Off

Hoping to set a tasty vibe when folks think of Yemassee (and raise some cash to clean up the town), the Yemassee Revitalization Corporation is hosting the Yemassee Lowcountry Cook-Off this Saturday, May 14, from 1 to 4 p.m.

WSAV has a nice video report about what this means to the town; see it here.

The event is a competition among Lowcountry chefs, amateurs, and pros, who will prepare a dish or meal of their choosing in order to vie for the title of Yemassee Cook-Off Champion. The winner will be determined by public voting.

The event is sponsored by culinary icon LeCreuset (who maintains a growing presence in the town and region) at the Yemassee Ball Field on S.C. 68 (map below).

Tickets are $12 in advance (843-441-7402) and $15 at the door. Tickets include 10 samples, and additional tickets will be sold at the event. Beer, wine, and soda will also be available. All proceeds will benefit the Yemassee Revitalization Corporation.
