Saturday at Hunting Island: Gullah/Geechee Celebration of the Sea

Cum jayn wi fa celebrayt wi sea! Join Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition, and the Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association at the first "Gullah/Geechee Celebration of the Sea."

The event runs Saturday, August 20, from noon to 5 and is open to the public by donation and a special workshop by Queen Quet requires a $20 pre-registration fee.

The event will include Gullah/Geechee cast net and quilting demonstrations, Gullah/Geechee cuisine, tours of the Hunting Island Nature Center, a Gullah/Geechee fishing exhibition, and the showing of the film, "The Will to Survive: The Story of the Gullah/Geechee Nation."
