Hands Across Beaufort exhibit is now a book, and there's a launch party

HANDS at work and at play - BOOK
The book cover.

"Hands at work and play in the Lowcountry of South Carolina," a companion to the "Hands Across Beaufort" exhibit, a hardcover book with all 109 images  has recently been published.

The 9 inch by 9 inch square format provides a  canvas for Sandy Dimke’s dense, lush, black and white images. The photographs show what people do for a living … or what they love to do.

Some images are iconic – a teenager playing football, a mother walking with her daughter, while  other photos evoke the pleasure of living in the Lowcountry of South Carolina – shrimp by the handful, US Marines, sweetgrass baskets makers, or oyster roasts.

A book launch party will be held during Beaufort’s Night on the Town, on December 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Beaufort Art Association Gallery. Refreshments will be served.

You may order a copy of Sandy’s book at www.dimkephotoart.com or purchase it locally for $29.95 at Beaufort Art Association and Beaufort Bookstore.

The publication of this book also celebrates the 300th birthday of Beaufort. Sandy Dimke is a photographer whose career in advertising and architectural photography spans over 30 years. Her award winning work has appeared nationally in the New York Times Sunday Magazine, South Carolina Wildlife and numerous other magazines.
