Update, December 7: If you missed the earlier showing, know that it's due to re-air on SC ETV's SCChannel on Monday, December 13th, at 8 p.m.

And the Beaufort County Library system has copies available for checkout.

First reporting, November 22: The Bluffton area's May River has struggled with growing development in its watershed area and a 24-minute film, "Keeping the May River Wild," about the river and its challenges is slated to run on S.C. ETV on Thursday, November 25, at 10 p.m.

The film is by Bluffton photographer, writer and editor Greg Smith

Here's a bit about the film from S.C. ETV:

The documentary, which completed Smith’s 2009 Master of Arts degree in Visual Communication from Ohio University, has already graced screens at the Gray’s Reef Ocean Film Festival, the Beaufort International Film Festival and the Macon Film Festival. In Beaufort, it earned the Southern Lens Award. And it was honored as one of the 20 best projects produced in 2009 by members of the American Society of Media Photographers.

The documentary chronicles the beauty and diversity of threatened creatures living in and near a unique estuary system under intense development pressure. It includes some 200 still photographs captured over two decades, rare audio of marsh-dwelling animals, kayak-cockpit video and interviews with river stakeholders. It suggests how people can adapt to preserve the beauty, seafood and recreational resources that are drawing new residents.

Smith and his program have played to rave reviews at community gatherings in Bluffton, on Hilton Head Island, on Daufuskie Island and in Beaufort. Many folks leaving presentations have pledged to change their lawn-care and storm-water-management habits.
