Downtown Beaufort parking isn't nearly as decisive an issue as it was a year ago, still it's clearly on the minds of locals.

And nearly two-dozen merchants are signing up to foot the parking tab for all 56 parking spots along the core area of Bay Street for the week of September 24 to 30 (Monday-Sunday) as a way to say thanks — and perhaps draw in a few more shoppers with the discount and paired up giveaways.
