Sanford rails on Legislature for costly security upgrades

Governor Mark Sanford is calling the legislature our for the millions it spent on security upgrades to the Statehouse, saying that it was that kind of frivolous spending that got the state into its current budget crunch.
Read more stories on this subject in our state budget topic page.Of course, the spending is only frivolous because nothing bad happened. Still, one can spend too much on “preventive care.”
