The National Weather Service is calling for thunderstorms across the area today and tomorrow, with flood advisories already in effect for some parts of Charleston and Berkeley counties. There’s also the possibility of tornadoes. And some forecasters are even talking about a hurricane by next week.
From the National Weather Service:
.Day One … Today and Tonight.
Heavy rainfall…Showers and thunderstorms will become numerous to widespread across much of southeast South Carolina and southeast Georgia tonight. The rainfall will be locally heavy at times…Capable of producing flooding of poor drainage and low lying areas.
.Days Two Through Seven…Wednesday through Monday.
Severe thundestorms…An unusually strong area of low pressure will track across the region Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will be numerous to widespread across the area as the low approaches. Some of these thunderstorms could become severe…Capable of producing damaging winds and a few tornadoes. If there are some breaks of sunshine and instability increases more than expected on Wednesday…there is the potential for a severe weather outbreak to develop. In addition to the threat of severe weather…locally heavy rainfall is expected.
And this added bit of news from The Post and Courier:

So, hold on to your hats, and don’t forget your umbrellas. It should be an interesting week or so, as far as weather goes.
