Harris Teeter plans six new stores in Charleston area
The company would have a total of 10 stores in the metro area if plans go through, bringing its first stores to Johns Island, West Ashley and the Summerville area (here’s a map).
By comparison Publix has at least 11 stores in the Charleston metro area.
Harris Teeter has some 175 stores focused heavily on the Southeast and Northeast, and has over the years shifted towards higher-income consumers.
