French Quarter Gallery Association's 20th anniversary

The association is celebrating its 20th year on Friday with socializing and nibbles, and, of course, lots of art on Friday, October 3, from 5 to 8 p.m.

An e-mailed press release said:

We will be featuring a new body of mixed media paintings by artist Joanne Williams. In a layered abstract study of color, figures gaze at sights unknown, landscapes dissolve into the abstraction of shapes over imperceptible boundaries, and color animates scenes composed of the mystical and the natural.

You are invited to meet Joanne, enjoy refreshments, and view other eclectic work by over 35 nationally and internationally renowned artists who work in a variety of mediums. This evening will be paired with live music by local acoustic trio, Caravan. Consisting of two guitars and an upright bass, their focus is on French gypsy swing, a la Django Reinhardt, but flamenco and bossa influences are also represented.
