Check out the Stix n’ Stones art show at Urban Outfitters Garden Theatre on Saturday, 27 from 6 to 9 p.m.

This show will raise money for the S.C. LGBT Film Festival coming in June 2009, while it aims to promote fair treatment of all people. The name of the show plays with the playground rhyme, “Sticks and stones will brake my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Although not physically harmful, words have lasting, emotionally abusive consequences. These artists will create collections mirroring the words used to damage the hearts of the LGBT community by integrating words and images that may culturally be deemed ‘inappropriate.’
